Captain Abadie, formerly of the 14th Lancers, was First Resident of Zaria, Nigeria. He was awarded CMG [Companion of the Order of St Michael and St George, an honour usually given to members of the Foreign Office.] Age: 30.

In ever loving and proud memory of my husband Major General Henry Richard Abadie C.B. formerly Commanding IX Queen's Royald Lancers and late Lt Governor of the Island of Jersey Commandant of the Cavalry Depot Canterbury from 1894 – 1987. Born 25th March 1841 Died 9th May 1915. Also of his four sons who gave their lives for their country. Harry Bertram Abadie D.S.O. Lt XI Prince Albert's Own Hussars died at Norval's Pont S. Africa 23rd Feb 1901 aged 28 years. George Howard Fanshawe Abadie C.M.G. formerly Captain XVI Lancers, First Resident Zaria Nigeria, died at Kano West Africa 11th Feb 1904 aged 30 years. Eustace Henry Egremont Abadie D.S.O. Major IX Queen's Royal Lancers, killed in action at Messines Belgium 31st October 1914 aged 37 years. Richard Nevill Abadie D.S.O. Lt Colonel 2nd Battn King's Royal Rifle Corps killed in action at Nieuport, Belgium 10th July 1917 aged 35 years. Grant them eternal rest and may everlasting light shine on them.
