Jennie passed into the arms of her Saviour on Saturday, September 24, 2011 in Fresno, CA at the age of 100.

A lifelong resident of Madera, CA, she was born on March 18, 1911, the eldest of six children to Ottavio and Anunziata (Panelli) Pistoresi, Italian immigrants from Tuscany, Italy.

She and her siblings grew up on a grape farm in the Howard School District, learning at an early age the joy of farming the land and the responsibilities that go with it. Until her death, she and her sister, Annie Bomprezzi were the last surviving matriarchs of this Italian family.

She attended Howard School and as a former student, was in a recent article by historian Bill Coates, where he featured the 6th-8th grade classes of 1923-24 - Jennie was the only surviving student.

Jennie's favorite subjects were spelling and arithmetic, which served her well as she and her husband Luigi Bandoni began their life together farming cotton, grapes and raisins in the Howard District. She spent countless hours cultivating a bountiful garden filled with Italian herbs, vegetables and beautiful roses - using the herbs to express her love of Italian cooking and the roses to decorate her house and table. She was an excellent cook and loved to prepare meals for family, friends and those who were down on their luck.

Even though she had farming responsibilities, she still found time to be involved in her precious children's lives. She was a member of the P.T.A, assisted with 4-H projects and functions, especially when it included cooking.

She also worked at Mission Bell Winery, was a lifelong member of the St. Joachim Catholic Church and The Order of Sons of Italy Madera Lodge where she served as the lodge chaplain for many years, up until the time of her death. She loved attending conventions and helping on dinner committees.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ottavio and Anunziata Pistoresi, her husband Luigi Bandoni, her brother Edward Pistoresi, her sisters, Gina Pistoresi, Italia Sciacqua and Mary Falconi, her son-in-law George Hunter, and her much-loved children Albert Bandoni and Carol Stockli.

She is survived by her sister, Annie Bomprezzi, her sister-in-law, Barbara Pistoresi, her beloved daughters, Anna Hunter, Betty Montanari and her husband Ken, Judy Favini and her husband Jim all of Madera, CA, and her son-in law, John Stockli. She is the cherished grandmother of Sharon Wilburn and her husband Dennis, Donna Eddings and her husband Robert, Chris Stockli and his wife Gloria, Christy Stockli, Kurt Stockli, Karla Stockli, Debi Valorosi and her husband Bill, Michelle Austin and her husband Joe, Melissa Sweet and Ryan Favini. She also leaves behind nine precious great grandchildren, Jennie and Jared Wilburn, Andi Thomas, Chelsy Eddings, Brooks and Madison Austin, Nicholas, Morgan and Taylor Sweet and four great great-grandchildren.

Visitation was held on Tuesday, September 27, 2011 from 2 to 7 PM at Jay Chapel with Recitation of the Rosary & Vigil Service following at 7 PM. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at 1 PM at St. Joachim Catholic Church. Private Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.

Remembrances may be made to St. Joachim's School, 401 W 5th Street, Madera, CA 93637, the Madera County Historical Society, P.O. Box 150, Madera, CA 93639, or The Friends of the Madera County Animal Shelter, 14269 Road 28, Madera, CA 93638-5799
