Lucian W. Curtis was born in Dudley, MA, a son of Chester Curtis and Lucinda Willis. He graduated from New York College for Physicians and Surgeons in 1848 with a medical degree. His practice as a doctor in Southbridge was noteworthy. He was married to Jane McCune of New York City. Their children were Emma Josephine b. 1849, Sarah Jane b. 1851, Lucian Wesley b. 1854 and Jessie Gertrude b. 1874. He was one of the original members of the Union Church in Globe Village. Before that he was a member of the Congregational Church at Southbridge town. Lucian is said to have died of shock following an accident in January 1903.
