UNITED IN DEATH
---------------------
Remarkable demise of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Buck -- Die suddenly within twenty - four hours of each other.
---------------------
Mrs John Thurston received the startling news yesterday of the death of her step-father and of her own mother, both in the same 24 hours. Some years ago, Robert Buck married Mrs. Christopher Shibley, the wife of a farmer of this county who died many years since. They lived on a ranch in California. He had been sick with lung troubles the past year and expected to come to this city and visit Mrs. Thurston in hopes that his health would be bettered. While tarrying at San Jose, California, waiting for mild weather to set in here, Mr. Buck died in his hotel, Sunday. Yesterday his wife unexpectedly and instantly dropped dead at the same place from unknown causes. The news of this double blow has nearly prostrated Mrs. Thurston. She telgraphed to have the remains of her mother sent to this city. They will be interred beside the remains of her first husband (researcher's note: second husband)in the East Side cemetery. The body of Mr. Buck will be buried at Reno, Cal., in accordance with his request.
