B.F. is one of seven children born to Ben Black and Bertha Smith. His siblings are
Marie (wife of Senior Smith), Kathryn Mae, Belvin, Lena Morine, John Bradley, and Oscar.
On November 19, 1938 he married Beulah and together they had six children. Phyllis (wife of Earl), Janice (wife of B.P.), Patricia, Juanita (wife of Don), Gail (wife of George), and James (husband of Becky).
They have ten grandchildren: Theresa, Sean, Larry, Connie, Gary, Stephanie, Paul, Christina, Mollie, and Olivia.
B.F. retired from the City of Cincinnati after 33 years of service.
