Nancy was the tenth child of Robert and Nancy Butler. She never married, although she had a daughter, Alice, born about 1877. Alice was the first wife of George Parrot. Census records indicate that Lizzie worked as a servant or a day laborer to support herself and her daughter. Lizzie's cause of death was the flu. If a victim of the influenza pandemic (the Spanish flu) of 1918-1919, her death was one among an estimated 70 million.
