Netta Naomi Hoel Bodine was one of four daughters born to William Albert Bodine (1858-1919) and Sarah Adeline "Addie" (Richardson) Bodine (1865-1943) on the family homestead in Albany, Linn County, Oregon on April 25th, 1897. I don't know why they gave the child the last name of "Hoel" on her birth certificate when she was their child and their last name was Bodine. She was known as Naomi, didn't marry and lived in the family home until at least until 1920, when the last U S Census was taken that I can find her on. It is interesting to note that most of her sisters were also living at home at that time, although 3 of the daughters were in their 20's. Her sisters were Ruth Lenora, b.1889, Margarette Isabelle, b.1891, Addie C., b.1899, and Vernetta, b.1907. I cannot find Naomi after that census; she died on Nov 17, 1966 and was buried under the name of Netta Naomi Bodine Hoel. I am curious to know what happened to her during that 46 years of her life; she and her sisters led a life-- their mother passed away in 1943. I know that Ruth married Leander Kenneth Burkhart and Margarette married Franklin Safley. Her older brother, Daniel Harvey, b.1886, married and lived in Multnomah County with his wife, Mildred, and son, Leroy. However, what became of Addie and Vernetta is not known at this time. Netta died on Nov 17, 1966 and was buried in Riverside Cemetery with her other family members. If anyone can update this memorial, please contact me via the edit button. ************************Update****************************** I have done much more research and also have been doing this for over six years so am not as naive as I used to be. Hoel was Naomi's married name!! Naomi met and later married Anton Hoel, a Norwegian emigrant who had entered the United States from Blaine, Washington from Canada. He had come to North America originally in 1925, and had become employed at the Oregon Tuberculosis Hospital in Turner, Marion Co., Oregon as a Truck Driver. At the time, Naomi was an x-ray technician. They married in 1928 and were living in Turner when the 1930 Census was taken on Apr 7, 1930. By 1935, the couple had moved to Woodburn, and, when the 1940 Census was taken on Apr 5, 1940, they were living in Englewood, Coos Co., Oregon, paying $15 rent per month, and had a 4 yr. old daughter, Annette. Anton was a fish buyer for a wholesale fish company and Naomi, who was 7 yrs. his senior, was at home with their daughter. Other documents I've found show that he was born in Lier, Norway, Nov 5, 1904. He also must have divorced and remarried as, when he died in Multnomah County, Oregon on Sep 24, 1960, his spouse is listed as "Margare".I have also found a Margaret Hoel, b. Sep 25, 1911 and d. Sep 24, 1998 with her last residence in Tucson, Arizona. Neither Anton or Margaret Hoel are in the find a grave system as of this date, but that is subject to change as records are updated.
