Well Know Newspaper Man Drops at Desk.
HEART DISEASE THE CAUSE.
Had Been in Poor Health for Some Time - The Editor and Proprietor of the Livingston Post - Sketch of His Career.

GEORGE ALDERSON. Special Dispatch to the Standard. Livingston, March 21. At 4 o'clock this afternoon Georee Alderson, the well known editor and proprietor of the Livingston Post, dropped dead from heart disease while working at his desk in his newspaper office. The news of his sudden taking off was a great shock to people of Livingston with whose interests he has so long been identified, and expressions of sorrow were heard on all sides. Mr. Alderson had been in poor health for some time past. He recently went to Minneapolis to consult specialists regarding his ailment, but was unable to obtain only little relief. He was born at Arkengarthdale, Yorkshire. England, in 1833. At the age of 16 he came to America with his parents and settled in Illinois. He afterwards moved to Wisconsin, where he engaged in farming. He was married there. In 1881 he left Wisconsin and came to Montana, locating at Miles City, where he remained until 1885, when he removed to Bozeman, where he began his newspaper career by establishing the Montana Register. In 1890 he purchased the Livingston Post from J. D. Whelpley and removed to this city, where he had since resided.

Mr. Alderson was a member of the Montana Press association, and at a meeting of that organization held in this city in August, 1900, he was unanimously elected as its president. During the past year Mr. Alderson constructed the Livingston Post building on Callendar street, which is now occupied by his newspaper. It is one of the handsomest newspaper offices in the state.

The heartfelt sympathy of the entire community is extended to the bereaved family in their great loss. Besides his wife, he leaves flve children. Walter Alderson, editor and proprietor of the Red Lodge Picket; George W., W. L. and A. M. Alderson of this city, and Mrs. Minnie Hickox of Butte.
