She was the daughter of Shelvy White Cecil and Mary C. Bratton.
Her husband enlisted for service in the Virginia Infantry in 1861. After that time, they raised a family; moving to Texas and farming. Sarah's children were:
Shelvy Cecil, Electra Virginia, Braxton Bragg, Emma Elizabeth, Gordon Cecil, Susan Mary, John Walker II., Samuel Tilden, Grace Celestine, Cecil H., Sarah Elizabeth, Joseph David, Clinton R.
{childrens names researched by Nancy Bailey}.
*The marriage date is that given by Glennis Walker from his research / I do not find that the arithmetic matches, nor find a marriage record.
I have been asked to link her to memorial # 75215890, who could be her father (have no proof of this, though he could be). There are several Mary Cecils buried in Mercer county, WV, none proven to be her mother.
Thanks to Jeff Gragg for adding the record, and for transferring these Baileys & making the linking possible.
Sue has added the images and generously sent me the words from the stone.
That inscription may help researchers with the dates.
