Sarah Sutcliffe was born in Philadelphia, the daughter of Joseph Sutcliffe and his wife Sarah and married James Bowker in Manayunk, Philadelphia on January 24, 1866. She was the second wife of James. Sarah and James had only one child, a daughter named Susanna (Susie). Susie married Albert Sinclair Couturier in Philadelphia in 1890. Susie and Albert had only one child, Ethel in 1891. Susie died in 1896. Sarah Sutcliffe Bowker died in 1917 at the Presbyterian Home for Women.
