Sergeant First Class Florian Pauli was born in Halle, Saale, Saxony-Anhalt, in 1984.

As a qualified paramedic, he decided to join the German Federal Armed Forces in 2005, where he first worked in the Army Medical Troop. He later qualified as a paratrooper.

Florian was an outgoing person who loved life to the fullest. His interests contained snowboarding, mountainbiking, and he loved riding his new motorbike.

On October 7, a suicide attack took Florian's life, while several other soldiers were seriously injured. Following a ceremony in Afghanistan, the casket was brought to Germany for repatriation.

On October 15, a funeral service which was attended by more than 600 people was held in the church of Selsingen, Lower Saxony.

Burial in Halle, Saale, Saxony-Anhalt.
