Anderson's first wife was Permelia Jane Lockmiller (Loughmiller). They married in Hancock Co, Tenn on 28 Sep 1854. They appear in the 1860 and 1870 US Census for Hancock and then Bradley Co, Tenn. Their children were Nancy E; Green C; Sarah C; and Mary F Byrd as noted on her headstone. Permelia died in 1874, the year of her baby Mary's birth, probably from childbirth complications. Baby Mary died 18mos later.

1862 IRS Tax Assessment shows Mr Byrd owning 112 acres in Bradley Co, Tenn.

Besides the children linked below (Nancy, Green and Mary), Anderson and Permelia had another daughter, Sarah C "Sallie" (Byrd) Bryant [12 Mar 1864-17 Jul 1939. She married Elisha H Bryant in 1880, Madison Co, Ark. Known children: Earlene [m.?Bates] b.1882 d.<1940 in Calif. Elisha's parents: Rev. Gamaliel R Bryant and Martha Rebecca Dobkins.

(Personal testimony by Dennis Hinkel re: Anderson's 2nd wife, Nancy): "Anderson and Nancy Byrd married on January 28, 1875 in Washington Co, Ark. (Washington Co Marriage Record, Book D, page 323). Anderson was 42 and Nancy was 26 years of age. They were the parents to 8 children; only seven were alive in 1900. They were the Great-Grandparents to my late wife on her Mother's side." - Dennis Hinkel

Anderson's second wife was Nancy Williams, b.16 Dec 1848 in Ark; d.25 Aug 1932 in Ark. The 1880 and 1900 census' list 8 children: Jesse, Millard, Jarvis, Lydie, Charles, Fannie & Nora (twins), and Isham. An 1893 family photo shows all but Millard. A 9th child, William H, b.8 Feb 1876, is not listed on 1880 census. Millard is not listed on the 1900 census, nor in the 1893 family picture.
