David F. Abitz, 48, of W9033 Johnson Road, Eldorado, (Town of Lamartine), died Wednesday, Aug. 8, 1990, at Milwaukee County Medical Complex. He was born July 10, 1942, in Fond du Lac, a son of Leroy and Ethel Schultz Abitz. On Feb. 4, 1985, he married Mary Balsar in Fond du Lac. Mr. Abitz was employed with Mercury Marine for 29 years until April of this year. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving from July 30, 1960, to Jan. 3, 1962. He had been a patient at' Milwaukee County Medical Complex since May 23, 1990, and received a bone marrow transplant on June 13. Survivors include his wife; three sons, David L. of Ripon, Kevin and his wife Kaye of Fond du Lac, and Russel of West Bend; one daughter, Cheryle! Schultz and her husband David of Beaver Dam; two stepsons, Kevin Harlan and his wife Amy of Dover, Mo., and Robert Harlan and his wife Chris of Fond du Lac; five grandchildren; his parents of Fond du Lac; three brothers, LeRoy and his wife Shirley, Alvin and his wife Pat, and Kenneth and his wife Betty, all of Fond du Lac; and three sisters, Ethel Stacey and her husband George and Joyce Schwind and her husband Tom, both of Fond du Lac, and Chris Humleker Jr. and her husband Andrew Jr. of Eldorado. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at Gospel Tabernacle. The Rev. Richard Balken will officiate. Burial will follow in Estabrooks Cemetery. Friends may call Friday from ; 3 to 9 p.m. at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home, and Saturday from 12:30 p.m. to the hour of services at the church.
