The parents of James William Bevels (1861-1911) were James Bevels (c1840-bef. 1870) and Elizabeth Lanora "Betsy, Nora" Ross (1843-1911). They were married in Lincoln County, Tenn. on October 13, 1858 or 1859.

After her first husband died, Elizabeth Lanora Ross Bevels married John Samuel Bryan (1852-1913) on October 24, 1872 in Lincoln County, Tenn.

[[Since the previous information was written, it has been discovered that a James Bevil (aka James Bevels) is one of 145 known Confederates and 2,000 unknown Confederate soldiers buried in a mass grave at Evergreen Cemetery, Rutherford County, Tennessee. His Civil War death was in Murfreesboro, Tenn., supposedly on December 3, 1862.]]

Both Elizabeth Ross Bevels Bryan and John Samuel Bryan (2nd husband) are buried at Bee Spring Cemetery, Giles Co., Tennessee.
