Robert J. Covert was born July 22, 1921 at Montour Falls, Schuyler, New York, the son of Ralph A. and Katherine L. Meyer Covert. He passed away August 21, 1996 at St. Joseph's Hospital, Elmira, Chemung, New York.
Robert worked at Bendix in Elmira Heights, RCA in New Jersey, and Maremont Corporation (now Saco Defense Inc.) in Saco, Maine, from which he retired.
He was a life member, past president and director of the National Affairs of Purchasing Management Association of Maine. Since 1926, he had been a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church. He proudly served his country during WWII and was a life member of the Submarine Veterans of WWII, and the Eastern Paraplegic Veterans of America.
He was a member of advisory council of Schuyler County Retired Senior Citizens Program, American Legion, Montour Falls Fire Department, Mechanics Club, Chemung Valley Multiple Sclerosis Association, and National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
He married Barbara Symonds February 28, 1946 in Maine. Barbara died August 31, 1987.
Robert was a loving family man. He will be sadly missed by his family and many friends.
