Mattie Helen Acuff, 94, of Columbia and formerly of Vandalia, died Monday, March 19, 2007, at Boone Hospital Center.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 25, at Log Providence Baptist Church, with the Rev. David P. Ballenger officiating. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Warren Funeral Chapel, 12 E. Ash St. Burial will be at Log Providence Cemetery.

Mattie was born Nov. 14, 1912, in Columbia, the daughter of Joseph Slater and Susie Logan. She married Garrison Acuff, and he preceded her in death.

She was a member of Log Providence Baptist Church and also of the mass choir and women's mission. She also worshiped at Second Christian Church in Vandalia.

Survivors include two grandchildren, Henderson Hickman of Columbia and William Hickman of the state of California; three great-grandsons, Anthony Hickman and Donell McBride, both of Columbia, and Ronell McBride of Overland Park, Kan.; 10 great-great-grandchildren, including Lavere Williams of Columbia; three nieces, Rebecca Colbert, Margaret Webb and Laverne Hugh, all of Columbia; and seven great-great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one daughter, three brothers, four sisters and one granddaughter.
