COLUMBIA — Alvy Sanford Acton, 81, died Sunday, Feb. 14, 2010, at Boone Hospital Center.
Mr. Acton was born in McBaine on March 10, 1928. He was one of 17 children born to William Greenberry Acton and Sarah Lillian Calvin Acton. He married Bessie Josephine Sapp on Sept. 19, 1947. She died on Aug. 24, 2008.
Mr. Acton worked at the printing presses at Kelly Press and retired as the print shop manager of the Missouri State Prison in Jefferson City.
He is survived by a daughter, Marilynn of Centralia; two sons, Brian of Sturgeon and Brad of Columbia; two brothers, George and Bob; three sisters, Bonnie, Betty and Shirley; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
A daughter, Carolynn Acton Trumbo, and 11 siblings died earlier.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Memorial Park Cemetery, 217 Business Loop 70 W.
