Obituary: Jerry Adkerson

Jerry G. Adkerson, 48, of Columbia died Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2003, in Callaway County.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 25, at Memorial Funeral Home, 1217 W. Business Loop 70, with the Rev. Michael Burt officiating. Burial will be in New Salem Cemetery in Ashland. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Mr. Adkerson was born Nov. 25, 1954, in Kennett to Woodrow Andrew and Edna Rosemond Smithwick Adkerson.

He married Cindy Harris on Feb. 14, 1982, in Columbia, and she survives.

He was employed with United Parcel Service for 19 years. He was a route driver for the last five years.

He attended Grace Bible Church and was a member of Teamsters Local 688.

Other survivors include his mother, Edna Adkerson of St. Charles; a son, Bradley Smithwick Adkerson of Columbia; and two daughters, Amanda Jalayne Adkerson and Elissa Rose Adkerson, both of Columbia; five brothers, Ron Adkerson of St. Charles, Mike Adkerson of Peveley, Tim Adkerson of Holts Summit, Tom Adkerson of Dittmer and Mark Adkerson of West Plains; and a sister, Jalayne Eyerly of St. Louis.

He was preceded in death by his father.
