Leonard Otto Acton, 89, of Columbia died Friday, Aug. 2, 2002, at Boone Hospital Center.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 5, at Nashville Baptist Church with the Revs. Don Snyder and Kevin Collins officiating. Burial will be in Nashville Cemetery. Visitation is from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 4, at Parker Funeral Service, 22 N. Tenth St.

Mr. Acton was born Aug. 25, 1912, in Boone County to James Woodson and Beulah Taylor Acton. On May 4, 1935, he married Trellis Rice in Columbia, and she survives.

Mr. Acton lived his entire life in Boone County. He was a longtime member of Nashville Baptist Church and operated trucks for the Columbia Water and Light Department, retiring in 1970.

Other survivors include three daughters, Mary Taylor and Shirley Crane, both of Columbia, and Patricia Harmon of Ashland; four brothers, James Acton and Jerry Acton, both of Columbia, Ronald Acton of Fulton and Wilfred Acton of Rocheport; four sisters, Julia Hatton, Diane Alaye and Cathy Colvin, all of Columbia, and Leona Ray of Harrisburg; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Vinetta Perkins and Ulalah Forsee; and three brothers, Aubrey Acton, Raymond Acton and Buford Acton.
