Terence was the son of Terence and Margaret (nee Twiddle) Callahan in New York City. His father was born in Ireland and his mother was born in England.

He married Emma Clark circa 1879. Terence worked as a house painter and lived with his wife and children in New York City's 18th Ward near East 17th Street area.

Terence and Emma were parents to:

Lorretta Callahan (born and died 1880)
Genevieve Callahan Kennedy (1881-1966)
Edward Callahan (born circa 1884)
Irene Muriel Callahan (born circa 1886-died 1918)
Gertrude Callahan (born circa 1887)
Marjorie Lillian Callahan Johnson*(1888-1970)
Frank H. Callahan (1891-1952)
Dorothy Callahan (1893-1894)
Mary Callahan (1894-1896)

Terence passed away from aortic regurgitation on December 10, 1918 at 3 a.m. He was cared for by D. J.E. Herrity. Funeral arrangements were handled through William J. Reilly, Undertaker. Terence was interred at Calvary Cemetery on December 13, 1918.

*Marjorie appears as Margaret on some Census records.

Terence is listed on the Sullivan Interment List provided by Bill Kearns, a descendant of Daniel and Mary Sullivan. Terence , Emma and their daughter Irene are on this list as being buried in Sec. 10, Plot 57, Grave 10.

FindAGrave volunteer photographer was unable to locate the plot where they are buried. According to our email exchange, the photographer explained that Calvary has rearranged the layout of the Section 10. No headstone could be found with the name of Sullivan on it. On 10/4/13 I received an email from William Kearns confirming that there is no headstone on the plot. He, too, had trouble locating the burial plot while at Calvary.
