Private Eldort A. Brauer was a Ranger with Company E of the 1st Ranger Battalion. He drowned during the amphibious landings at Gela (Sicily) on 10 July 1943. His body washed ashore. He was first buried in a fieldgrave behind the invasion beach and reburied in the temporary American GELA Cemetery in plot-grave A-11-131, date of burial was 27 July 1943. After the war his remains were repatriated and buried in the Rosehill Cemetery in Rocky Hill, Connecticut.

I am writing a book about the temporary American GELA Cemetery and hope to finish it this year (2014). Over 1,200 men and women were buried in this cemetery between July 1943 and April 1947
