Obituary appearing in The Victoria Advocate, Thursday, February 27, 1969:
Mrs. Zilla Putney, 80, of Victoria, died at 3:10 a.m. Tuesday in a Port Lavaca rest home where she had resided for the past 1 1/2 years.
Mrs. Putney, the daughter of the late Henry H. and Anna Grandbury Bissett, was born March 11, 1888 in Cuero, and had formerly resided in Kingsville and Port Lavaca. She was a member of the First Baptist Church. She was the wife of the late P. P. Putney, a Victoria attorney.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church in Tivoli, with the Rev. Marcus Gohlke officiating. Burial will be in Tivoli Cemetery.
The body will lie in state at the church from 1 p.m. Thursday until time of services, McCabe-Carruth Funeral Home is in charge.
Survivors include three brothers, Leroy Bissett of Tivoli, Elmer of San Antonio, and Ollie Bissett of El Paso.
Pallbears will be Gerald Bissett, Kenneth Bissett, Durward Kenedy Bissett, Ray Bissett, Herbert Olson and Carl Turner.
