James D. ‘Bud" Barker, 82, Bridgeport, Ill., died Thursday, Oct. 13, 2005 at the Lawrence County Memorial Hospital in Lawrenceville, Ill..
He was born June 30, 1923, in Wabash County, Ill., the son of James H. and Lulu Mae (Deisher) Barker.
Mr. Barker was a Disabled Army Veteran, receiving the Purple Heart during WWII.
He worked in maintenance for the U.S. Postal Service for several years.
Surviving are two sons, Don Barker and wife, Linda, of Sumner, and Dan Barker and wife, Mary Alice, of Mt. Vernon, Ind.; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one sister, Elsie Starke of St. Louis.
Preceding him in death were his parents; sister, Hazel Alcorn; and brother, Freddie Barker.
Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 15, in Nye Chapel Cemetery.
Friends may call from 1-2 p.m. at Short Funeral Home in Mt. Carmel.
