Hilda Beutler Christen, 81, of Daytona Beach Shores, a homemaker and mother of five, passed away on July 7, 2008 at Halifax Medical Center. She was born in 1926 in Trubschachen, Switzerland. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Roy F. Christen. The couple were longtime residents of Ardmore, PA and moved to Daytona Beach Shores in 1996. Hilda was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, New Smyrna Beach Ward. She was a member of the Women's Relief Society Organization and held many callings including the Primary Organization teaching children. She also enjoyed gardening, traveling, cooking and volunteering her services at the Blind Society in Daytona Beach. She is survived by her five children, Randy Christen of Port Orange, FL, Andrew Christen of Port Orange, FL, James Christen of Downingtown, PA, Ted Christen of Oakland, CA and Dr. Elizabeth LaMont of Morehead, KY. She is also survived by nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. A Funeral Service to celebrate her life will be held at the LDS Church, 2 Fairgreen Ave. in New Smyrna Beach at 12 noon on Saturday, July 12. Visitation will be prior to the service from 11 a.m. until 12 noon at the church.
