Harley M. "Rocky" Bath, a life long Grays Harbor resident, died Tuesday, March 29, 2011 at St. Peter Hospital in Olympia. He was 78. Rocky was born on February 8, 1933 in Melbourne, Washington to Mortimer Freeman and Alpha Vivian (Wilkins) Bath. He grew up in Moclips and Montesano and attended Montesano High School. Rocky started working as a logger at age 16 until his U.S. Air Force service from 1951-1955 where he served in combat as a crash-rescue firefighter. Once he returned home from the war, Rocky went back to work in logging until he retired due to an injury from Tjernberg Logging in 1980. Rocky married Margaret Cleo Bachman in Coalinga, California on March 7, 1981. They recently celebrated their 30th Anniversary. Rocky is a past member of the Elma Veterans of Foreign Wars and a local fitness center. Rocky used to race sprint cars until his injury would no longer allow it. After that he became an avid racing fan. He also enjoyed gardening and mowing his yard. Rocky also loved to tinker. Rocky is survived by his wife, of the home, Margaret Bath, children, Robin Deason, Anchorage, AK, Chuck (Jo) Pelch, Honolulu, HI, Ronette Sanders, Eurecka, CA, Darlinda Ike, McCleary, WA, Lonnie (Heather) Coder, Elma, WA, Melody (Ted) Warren, Elma, WA, Roxanne (Jim) Byron, Alaska, Jeff Smith, Washington, his sisters, Addie Connelly of Elma and Betty Brown of Sequim. Rocky is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Mortimer and Alpha, brothers, Richard, Earl and Merle Bath, sisters, Doris Anderson and Minah Bath, grandson, Andrew Coder and great-grandson, Austin McDonald. According to the family, Rocky was a very loving husband, father and grandfather. He touched the lives of everyone he met. He will be dearly missed.
