Dorothy Hauser "Dottie"
March 11, 1919 -- June 9, 2006

Dorothy "Dottie" Hauser was born March 11, 1919 in Mankato, Minnesota to Dr. and Mrs. R.O. Eberhart. Dottie attended the local schools and graduated from Mankato High School. She continued her education at Iowa State University where she received her Bachelor's Degree.

Dottie met her future husband, Millard Hauser, the summer after her graduation. He was leaving to be drafted into the United States Army and, eventually, the Army Air Corps and Dottie was leaving for Terra Haute, Indiana to the Indiana State Teacher's College, Student Union building as a food supervisor in charge of Party Banquet Service. A year later she moved to Indianapolis to be a food supervisor at the L.S. Ayres Tea Room.

After Millard completed his World War II overseas assignment, they retured to Mankato, where they were married at Dottie's home on September 4, 1943. Millard's father, the Reverend F.W. Hauser performed the ceremony.

Millard then continued his military career in the United States Air Force and they were assigned to various bases in the United States as well as 2 1/2 years in Wiesbaden, Germany and 2 1/2 years in Guam. The last assignment was to Castle Air Force Base in 1955, where they made their home after Millard's retirement after 23 years in 1964.

Dottie continued teaching her beloved Kindergarten class and retired after nineteen years in the local schools.

Dottie and Millard were blessed with two daughters, Pamela S. Clare and Barbara L. Romero and her husband Allen; and son, Robert W. Hauser and wife Linda. They also have 6 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

Dottie and Millard have enjoyed good health and have traveled the world. They spent their winters in a retirement village in Mesa, Arizona. There they enjoyed golf and the many social activities of a retirement village.

Dottie was a member of the Atwater United Methodist Church, AAUW, Retired Officers Wives and Sunland Village East Ladies Golf Club.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, June 13, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at Atwater United Methodist Church. Private burial will be held at Winton District Cemetery.

Dottie is survived by her loving family and will be missed dearly.

Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society 301 W 18th Street, Suite 101 Merced, California 95340 or the United Methodist Church in Atwater.

Arrangements are under the direction of Stratford Evans Merced Funeral Home.
