DEWEY GARTIN DIES THURSDAY AT HOSPITAL
Dewey Gartin, 71, retired farmer and long time resident of Lucas County, died unexpectedly Thursday evening at Lucas County Memorial Hospital, where he had entered as a patient earlier in the day.
For thirteen years he was employed by Lucas County in the road maintenance department, retiring in 1963.
Surviving is his wife, Hazel of Chariton; three daughters, Justine Abrahamson of Russell, Betty Marker of Lucas and Rosemary Callen of Los Alamos, N. M.; one son, Lewis (Bill) Gartin of Chariton; ten grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Peco Morrett and Mrs. Katherine Campbell, both of Chariton, and Mrs. Lillian Remster of Cheyenne, Wyo.; and three brothers, Archie of Bakersfield, Cal. and John and Harley, both of Chariton.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Fielding Funeral Home conducted by the Rev. James Robertson. Burial was in Chariton Cemetery.
