On Tuesday, April 30, 2013, our beloved Jennifer RuthAnn (Gowdy) Carothers went to be with our heavenly father due to complications from surgery.  Jennifer was born December 2, 1986, to David Lynn and Danna Rogene Gowdy in Winfield, Ks. and spent most of her childhood in Arkansas City.  She later moved to Winfield where she graduated from High School in 2006.

Jenny was an active member in 4-H, Kansas Saddle Horse Association and FFA.  She was a faithful member of the Missionary Baptist Church in Ark City.  Jenny will be remembered for being a loving wife and mother, being an excellent caregiver, also for her kindness, beautiful smile, baking, gardening, singing and spunk.  She never failed to light up a room when she walked into it.

On December 31, 2011, Jenny married the love of her life, David Lee Carothers.  June 23, 2011 she gave birth to her sweet baby girl Briana Lynn whom she loved to the moon and back.  Surviving to honor her memory is; her husband of the home; daughter Briana, of the home; her parents; Brothers – Joshua and wife Jessica Gowdy of Derby, Jarret and wife Brandy of Wichita.  Grandmother Carol Ann Smith of Winfield, Grandfather Bob Gowdy of Winfield.  In-laws John and Carla Carothers of Winfield.  Sisters in law Audra Adams and Carmen Carothers of Walker, Louisiana.  Her adoring nieces:  Autumn, Chole, Nevaeh, Laney and nephew Tyler.  Plus, a host of Aunts, Uncles, cousins and friends that will miss her greatly.

Preceded in death by her grandfather Danny R. Smith, grandmother Jean Gowdy, both maternal and paternal great grandparents and stepson, JD.

Services will be Saturday, May 4, 2013, 2pm at the Swisher-Taylor & Morris Chapel.  Interment will be in Highland Cemetery.  Visitation will be Friday, May 3, 3pm to 8pm, family will greet friends from 6:30pm to 7:30pm.   Memorials may be sent to the Missionary  Baptist Church For: (Briana's continued medical care)– Ark City  210 E.
