Barbara was born June 16, 1932, in Clearwater, Kan., the daughter of Robert A. and Lena L. Barnett Laurie. She married Robert V. Morgan; he preceded her in death in 1993.
Barbara was a homemaker, beloved wife, wonderful mother and grandmother and friend to many. She loved to ride motorcycles and to travel. She was extremely proud of our military and all the servicemen and women who have served our country. She was a member of Central Baptist Church.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; a step-daughter, Patricia Heller; two sisters, Annie L. Robbins and Ella M. Morrison; and four brothers, Robert, Harvey, Donald and James Laurie.
She is survived by three sons, Robert V. Morgan II and Thomas S. Morgan, both of Springfield and Dana E. (wife, Cynthia) Morgan of Coffeen; two daughters, Jean M. (husband, Walter) Burnett of Terre Haute, Ind., and Nancy J. (husband, George) Burch of Springfield; a step-daughter, Judith (husband, Dick) Tipps of Carlinville; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; two brothers, Martin Laurie of Lebanon and Mike (wife, Carolyn) Laurie of Gillespie; two sisters, June Fletcher and Charlotte Lowe of Litchfield; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Cremation will be accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center. Graveside ceremonies will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 22, 2009, at Camp Butler National Cemetery, with Pastor Dennis Hamilton officiating.
