Mary Jane Adair, 81, died Saturday, April 12, 2008.
Visitation will be Monday, April 14, 2008, 1-3 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home in Tuscumbia, with services to follow. Officiating will be Brother Larry Wright.
Mrs. Adair was preceded in death by her husband, William A. Adair; her parents, Luther L. and Lillie Bailey Dunn, of Murray, Ky.; and her brother, Luther L. Dunn Jr., of Mayfield, Ky.
After 25 years of service, she retired from the Muscle Shoals City School System. Following her retirement she was an adjunct instructor at the University of North Alabama for several years. Teaching gave her great joy and she constantly wanted her students to realize their full potential. In addition to her years of teaching, Mary Jane and her husband, "Bill," served as music ministers in several area churches including First Baptist churches in Florence and Sheffield.
She is survived by daughters, Pat Federick and husband, Jerry, of Tuscumbia, Janet Adair, of Mesa, Ariz., and Mary Lynne Adair, of Tuscumbia; grandsons, Dr. Jonathan Frederick and wife, Julie, of Nashville, Tenn. and Bradley Frederick and wife, Julie, of Athens, Ala.; four great-grandchildren, Jackson, Mary Margaret, Madelyn and Lawson.
Pallbearers will be Phillip Anderson, Glenn Austin, Oscar Beck, Jack Crocker, Mark Dempsey and Harold Parker.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the American Cancer Society or to a favorite charity.
Morrison Funeral Home, of Tuscumbia, is directing.
