Herman Felzke Dies at Home in the Valley
Once Foreman at the U.S.D.B. Tailor Shop--Funeral to be Friday
Herman Felzke, 85 years of age, one of the best-known residents of Kickapoo township, died at 11 o'clock this morning at his home in Salt Creek Valley, following an extended illness.
Born in Pommern, Germany, April 23, 1857, Mr. Felzke came to the United States when 23 years of age. For many years he was employed at the United States Disciplinary Barracks, for Leavenworth, where he was foreman of the tailor shop at his retirement in March, 1928. Since his retirement he had lived on his farm on rural route four.
Mr. Felzke is survived by his widow, Mrs. Mary Felzke; two sons, Herman J. Felzke and Walter Felzke, both of the home; two brothers, Ernest F. Felzke, Katona, Ia.; and Frank Felzke, New York City.
Mr. Felzke was a member of Leavenworth Masonic Lodge no. 2 and recently was awarded the 25 year silver membership button.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 o'clock Friday afternoon at the Nuhn funeral home, Chaplain Franklyn R. Beery officiating, Burial will be in mount Muncie cemetery with graveside Masonic services.
The body will remain at the funeral home.
