William Endriss
The funeral for William E. Endriss S., 68, 1915 Olive, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Trinity Lutheran Church. the Rev H. Dennis Hill, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Muncie Cemetery.
Mr. Endriss died Wednesday afternoon in Cushing Memorial Hospital, where he had been a patient since July 27. He was born Nov. 16, 1912, at Leavenworth.
He attended schools in Leavenworth and was a graduate of Concordia Teachers College, Seward, Neb. Before his retirement in 1966 he was a senior correctional officer at the U.S. Penitentiary with more than 26 years service.
He was a lifelong resident of Leavenworth. For the past 25 years he was in charge of the July 4 fireworks display at Fort Leavenworth.
Mr. Endriss was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, the Retired Eagles Activity Club, the National Association of Retired Federal Employees and the American Association of Retired Persons. He was a charter member of Trinity Lutheran Church.
He married Helen Wendel Nov. 6, 1938, in St. Paul Lutheran Church. She survives at the home.
Other survivors include two daughter, Mrs. Lea Crim, RR and Mrs. Helen Palmer, 917 Olive, three sons, William E. Endriss Jr., Gladstone, Mo., Paul Endriss, Boca Raton, Fla., and Chris Endriss, 711 e. Eisenhower; eight grandchildren; and a cousin, Marvin VanKuren, California.
The family suggests memorial to Trinity Lutheran church or the library fund of Concordia Teachers College, Seward, Neb.
