Edward E. Burke Dies on Monday
Edward E. Burke, 66, 112 Miami, died Monday afternoon at St. John Hospital. He had been in failing health for the past five years.
Born April 17, 1900 in Leavenworth, he was a son of Thomas and Elizabeth Burke. He had been employed at the Goodjohn Sash and Door co. for 25 years.
On Dec. 24, 1924 at Atchison, Kansas, he was married to Miss Theresa Nietzke. He was a member of the Church of the Immaculate Conception and the Carpenters Union Local 499.
Mr. Burke is survived by his widow, Mrs. Theresa Burke of the home; one son, Thomas E. Burke, 1912 Shawnee; two brothers, John Burke, 4416 shrine Park Rd., and Thomas Burke, 700 Metropolitan; six sisters, Miss Elizabeth Burke, Mrs. Agnes Klotz and Mrs. Nellie Collins, all of 225 Pottawatomie; Mrs. Marie Hatfield, 815 9th Ave., Mrs. Christina Crow, 1720 S 5th, Mrs. Margaret Taylor, Wichita, and one grandchild.
Funeral service will be held at 9 a.m. Thursday at the Church of the Immaculate conception, Rt. Rev. Magr. A.M. Harvey, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Muncie Cemetery. Recitation of the Rosary will be at 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Larkin Funeral home. The body will be at the funeral home after 6 p.m. today.
