Mrs. Frietchen Funeral Monday

Mrs. Martha K. Frietchen, 86, 778 Osage, a resident of Leavenworth for over 60 years died Friday night at Cushing Memorial Hospital. She had been in failing health for several years.
Mrs. Frietchen was born Sept 24, 1881, in Metza Province, Hessen, Germany, the daughter of William and Elizabeth Ehart Wendel. the family came to the United States when she was three years old, and settled near Potter, Kan. She attended schools in Potter, and was married to Matt Frietchen in Potter on Nov. 28, 1905. They moved to a farm in Salt Creek Valley in 1907.
Mr. Frietchen died Nov. 6, 1953.
Mrs. Frietchen was a member of the Lutheran church, and the Spanish American War Widows and Wives organization.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Ruth Hippensteel, Topeka, and Mrs. Elizabeth Hamilton, 778 Osage street; a son, Vernon Frietchen, 1301 Quincy; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Felzke, RR 4; and Mrs. Anna Frietchen, 712 Ottawa; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at the Sexton Funeral Chapel. Rev. Don C. Preisinger, pastor of St. Paul Lutheran church, will officiate and burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery near Potter.
The body is at the Sexton Chapel. The family suggest memorials to the Leavenworth County Home.
