John A. Bromell

John A. Bromell, 80, Leavenworth, passed away Saturday, April 30, 2005, at Providence Medical Center.
John was born on March 15, 1925, the son of Alfred and Martha Richstatter Bromell in Leavenworth.

On April 27, 1953, he married Norma Singer in the old Immaculate Conception Cathedral. She survives at the home.

He was a graduate of Immaculata High School, a lifetime member of the St. Joseph of the Valley Church, a lifetime member of Eagles Aerie No. 55 and a member of the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed farming and owned and operated Bromell Rock Hauling Company.

He loved to spend time with his family and grandchildren and enjoyed playing cards.

Survivors include his wife, Norma; two sons, Steven J. Bromell (Gwen), Lansing, and Michael P. Bromell (Robin), Lansing; three daughters, Mary Lee Wagner (Kenny), Leavenworth, Linda M. Nickel (Mike), Topeka, and Sandra A. Waller, Basehor; one sister, Lydia Heintzelman; and 11 grandchildren, Rachel, Ashley and Paul Wagner, John and Stephanie Bromell, Crystal, Paul and Morgan Bromell, Luke and Jessie Nickel, and Brent Waller.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Martha Heim, Ann Sachse and Essie Lallier; and grandson, Derek Bromell.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today, May 2, 2005, at the Davis Funeral Chapel. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 3, 2005, in the St. Joseph of the Valley Church. The Rev. John Ayang SOLT will officiate. Burial will follow in the Mount Olivet Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be given to the St. Joseph of the Valley Church or Bethel Cemetery.
