While on a trip with his parents to visit relatives in Boulder, CO, baby Lloyd died and was originally buried in Columbia Cemetery. After his parents moved to South Africa, Lloyd was removed to Green Mountain Cemetery, where he was reburied near his aunt, Marietta Lancaster Coan, and her husband, Captain Alonzo Coan. Marietta and Lloyd's mother, Ida Lancaster Atterbury, were sisters.

"I. F. Atterbury, a prominent young attorney, abstractor and loan agent, was born in De Kalb County, on November 14, 1858. He is the elder of two children born to G. B and Elizabeth (Dalton) Atterbury. ... In June, 1885, he was united in marriage with Miss Ida Lancaster, who was born in De Kalb County, in 1861. She is the daughter of Judge Manfred Lancaster. One son was born to them --- Lloyd, born in April, 1886, died July, 1887, in Boulder, Colo., where he is buried."
-- From "History of Andrew and De Kalb Counties, Missouri" St. Louis and Chicago: The Goodspeed Publishing Co., 1888, page 548.

Lloyd's obituary (Boulder County Herald, Wednesday, 20 Jul 1887, p8) refers to him as "the little Attebury baby". His parents are not mentioned by name. However, in an article in the same paper on 22 Jun 1887, p4, it's reported that "I. T. Atterbury, wife and child, of Marysville, Mo. are visiting at Captain Coan's in Boulder. Mr. Atterbury is a brother-in-law of the Captain."

"I. T" in the 20 Jul 1887 article is incorrect, since the man's name is Isom Fuller Atterbury. Additionally, the family was from Maysville, MO, in DeKalb County.
