Hollis was the next-to-youngest of five children: Helen, Mary, John Myron, Hollis, and Charles Leslie. According to my grandfather's notes, Hollis left a wife, Marylin, but I have been unable to find anything corroborating this. I did read the letter sent to my gr-grandmother (Laura Hollis Isham) by his commanding officer advising her of the circumstances of his death. With only two weeks left on his enlistment, he volunteered to swim a rope across a river in Nicaragua so the other members of his platoon could get across. He was killed by a crocodile while doing this on 8 Jun 1928 in Asang, Nicaragua. Semper Fi, Uncle Hollis.
