His father was John Anderson born 1864 in England. In 1883 he married George's mother Mary Jane Spinks in Texas at age 19. Mary remarried in 1891, her second husband was Adelbert Wilton Thorne. She and George moved to California where the Thorne family had relocated from Iowa. They lived first in Cambria and later on a ranch east of Santa Margarita. He moved to Vallejo, CA and Reno, NV, eventually returning to San Luis Obispo County where he resided in Morro Bay until he died in 1966. He married Lillie Anna, last name unknown. Very little is known about her other than what is contained in the 1930 census which shows her father having been born in Sweden and her mother in California.
