Herman A. Briggeman, 77, Indianapolis, died March 5, 2003. Born in Tell City, IN, on February 25, 1926, he was the son of Ben A. and Helen T. Biever Briggeman. He entered the seminary at St. Meinrad in Sept. 1940 and was ordained a priest on May 15, 1951. He served as priest at Holy Cross and St. Mark Churches in Indpls.; St. Augustine in Jeffersonville, and was the founding priest of St. Thomas More in Mooresville. He married Lee Ann Pierle on Jan. 13, 1973. He was Owner of Beck Muffler Shop in Southport and Franklin since 1978. He was a member of St. Mark Church, Indpls., where he also served as Cantor. He was a talented musician and performed with the Indianapolis Arts Chorale. A married priest, he was a devoted husband, father, businessman, trusted friend, advisor, and mentor to many. Funeral Services will be held at St. Mark Catholic Church on Sat., Mar. 8 at 2 p.m. Visitation will be on Fri., Mar. 7 from 3 to 9 p.m., with a Vigil Prayer Service at 7:30 p.m. -and- from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Sat., Mar. 8 at St. Mark Church. Burial: Calvary Cemetery. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Sisters of St. Benedict, Ferdinand, IN; St. Meinrad Archabbey, St. Meinrad, IN; St. Mark Capital Improvement Fund or Holy Cross Church, Indpls. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ben A. and Helen T. Briggeman and sisters, Martha Jo Stallings and Alice Briggeman. Survivors: wife Lee Ann (Pierle) Briggeman; sons Benjamin A. (Heather Koons) Briggeman, Daniel R. (Holley) and Ben J. (M.J.) Stallings; daughters Emily Briggeman (Austin) Groshere, Julia Stallings (David) McClellan and Kathryn M. Stallings; grandchildren: Bailey Koons, Lindsey, Joshua, Kirsten, Raymond, Andrew, Kyle, Anthony and Alexandra Stallings and Marisa and Amanda McClellan; sisters Sr. Mary Sarah Briggeman, O.S.B., Bernice B (Harry) Jaynes and Charlotte A. Born; sisters & brothers-in-law Sally & Mike Pierle; Donna & Nelson Wheeler, Mary Jo Pierle, Chris & Danny Pierle, Judy & Gary Pierle; several nieces & nephews.
