Mrs.J.G. Opal Smathers, homemaker, of the Leavenworth area, died Nov.11,1991 at Jefferson County Memorial Hospital. She was 90. Born Oct.24,1901 in Banner, OK, the daughter of Van and Margery Foley Niles. She was married to John G. Smathers, he died in 1969. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star in Lansing and the Springdale Homemakers Club and other clubs in her lifetime. Services were held at Barnett-Larkin-Brown Funeral Home with burial at Fort Leavenworth National Cemetery.
