Whit was a dairy farmer in the area around Tupelo, MS, (Aberdeen) and also served with the Tupelo Fire Department as a fireman for many years.

Whit's mother, Susan Izora Griffin Presley, named her children with names of Scottish villages. Whitford, Clan Whiteford, lands of Whitefoord, 3 miles north of Paisley, Renfrewshire, on River Cart. 1400s spelling Quhitefurde, see also town of Myltoune. "The first of the Whitefoords (History of Renfrewshire, p241) is said by Crawfurd to have obtained his lands by grant from the battle of Largs in 1263, but like all such traditionary statements it is very questionable."

Whit was married in October 1923 to Tennie A. Presley, nee Nash, and had two daughters. Tennie died at age 58, on 15 JAN 1961.
