John Edward Pounders, age 72, of Cabot, AR., passed away Monday, 16 Jan 2012, at Baptist Springhill Medical Center in North Little Rock. John was the son of Thomas and Louise Pounders, of Osceola, Arkansas.
John graduated from Hughes High School in Hughes, AR, and attended Arkansas State College in Jonesboro, AR. John worked a Home Oil Company in Osceola, AR.
John was married to Jeannie Goodman of Imboden, AR, on 22 May 1966, at 2:00 pm on Sunday, at the Imboden Methodist Church, Imboden, AR. Tommy Pounders was the best man at the wedding. The couple would reside in Osceola, AR.
John and Jeannie had two children:
1. Michael, married to Heather
2. Brian, married to Connie
and three grandchildren, who knew him as Poppy:
1. Logan Pounders
2. Audrey Pounders
3. Makenna Pounders.
John was faithful member of Mt. Tabor United Methodist; a 32nd Degree Mason and a Shriner. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Louise Pounders, and brother, Tommy Pounders, all of Osceola, AR, and survived by his wife, Jeannie, his children and grandchildren.
A memorial service was held at Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Cabot Funeral Home.
