Dicy was the child of Thomas Goggans and Rebecca Teague.
Dicy is the granddaughter of Thomas Bailey Johnston and Elizabeth Jane Dalrymple Johnston.
is the great granddaughter of Thomas "Big" Johnston and Ann Lewis Johnston.

After Thomas Goggans' death, Rebecca Teague, Dicy's mother, later married Jehu W. Pitts, the widower of Rebecca's deceased sister, Mary Teague Pitts.

Dicy was married to Nathaniel McCoy and had three children;
William, Rebecca and John Teague McCoy.

At the time of the 1850 census, Nathaniel was 60, a farmer, Dicy was 45, Rebecca, age 17, and John age 12.

Dicy is my g'g'g'grandmother. According to the census her name is spelled with an "e", Dicey.
In the book "Our Folks", by Sadie Goggans, the name Dicy is also spelled Dicey.

According to the 1850 census, Dicy had a brother, Elihu Goggans, a farmer, age 42, married to Elizabeth (?) and had two children Rebecca, age 18, and Gabriel, age 16.

According to the 1850 census, Elihu and Dicy's families lived next door on neighboring farms.
