Lt. Col. Grover B. Perkins U.S.A.F. Ret'd., 81, of San Antonio, Texas, died Friday, January 12, 2007. He was born May 6, 1925, in Cairo, Nebraska, to Everett and Callie Perkins. He was a decorated combat veteran of WWII, serving with the U.S. Army, 70th Infantry Division. After the war, he was commissioned as an officer in the U.S. Army Reserve. He later transferred to the U.S. Air Force Reserve, where he retired with the rank of Lt. Colonel. In both a civilian and military capacity Lt. Col. Perkins gave over 40 years of loyal and dedicated service to his country. He is preceded in death by a brother, Frank and a son, Bradley. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Izetta; a son, Craig; daughter, Andrea Higdon and her husband, Lawrence; grandson, Larry Higdon; granddaughter, Sandra Helton and her husband, Michael; brother-in-law, Willard "Bill" Roseberry and his wife, Julie and sister-in-law, Violet Roseberry.

Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, January 17, 2007 at 11:30 am at Northwest Hills United Methodist Church, 7575 Tezel Road, San Antonio. Interment will follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery with Military Honors. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Northwest Hills United Methodist Church in his name.
