Baltazar Cervantes passed away surrounded by his loving family at the age of 100. He was born in Chihuahua, Chihuahua, Mexico to Anactacio and Hermengilda Cervantes. Baltazar worked for the Southern Pacific Railroad for the 36 years, from 1931 until 1967, doing track maintenance. He mad his home in Elko in 1958, where he later worked for the City of Elko for 20 years. He enjoyed traveling to Chihuahua Mexico every year for 6 months to spend time with his children and grandchildren. He loved to occasionally play blackjack at the local casinos. He was a member of the St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Baltazar was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lydia Reyes Cervantes; brothers, Lencho, Pedro, Guadlupe, Pasqual and Daniel Cervantes; and sisters, Pepe Torres, Cruz Crosby and Trinidad Hernandez. He is survived by his daughters; Carmen C. (Amerlio) Lara of Elko, Mary (Rick) Elias of Highland, CA; Mickey (Jim) Scott of Hesperia, CA; Constance (Valentine) Garcia of San Berdino, CA, Maria Elena (Bob) Selk of Modesto, CA and Vera (Sylvester) Granillo of Redlands, CA; sons, Chris Cervantes of Rialto, CA and Raul (Maria) Cervantes of Rialto, CA; granddaughters, Norma Golden, Nannette (Ryan) Ispisua and Sofia (Alberto) Perez of Elko; grandsons, Harvey Cervantes of Elko, Juan (Jessica) Lara of Spanish Springs, and A.J. and Gabriel Lara of Elko; 44 grandchildren of California; great-grandsons, Joseph Golden, Z. Baltazar Perez, Kaiden Cervantes and Alex Perez; great-granddaughters, Kara Golden, Jazmin Perez, Skyler Ispisua, Peyton Ispisua and Kylie Bailey; a great-great Granddaughter, Nakiya Golden; and 54 great-grandchildren of California. His sister, Chavella Sosa of Chihuahua, Mexico, and many nieces and nephews survive Baltazar.
