Grandmother of Frank and Jesse James. Mother of Zerelda Elizabeth Cole, who was the mother of Frank and Jesse James. She had been the wife of James Cole, who was killed in a horse accident February 27, 1827. Later married to Robert Thomason. Other relatives of Jesse James are buried here with names of Cole, Thomason, and Mimms. Also a neighbor of the James farm Dan Askew, thought by many to have been killed by the James brothers. Askew was found dead after Pinkerton agents threw a bomb into the James farm house. It was believed that he had helped Pinkerton agents in their efforts.
