b. December 22, 1861 d. June 3, 1927A wealthy businessman and philanthropist, he operated the Epperson Land & Investment Company, and the U.S. Epperson Underwriting Company. Built a grand Tudor-Gothic castle complete with balcony for string orchestra, at 5200 Cherry Street in Kansas City, Missouri. Both he and wife Elizabeth loved the fine arts, particularly music. They devoted considerable time and energy raising money for worthy causes. After the death of Mrs. Epperson, the home was donated to what is now the University of Missouri at Kansas City (UMKC).
