Chesapeake-On Wednesday Morning, January 6, 2016, Virginia Evelyn Bly Anderson went home to be with the Lord. The second of nine children born to the late Rufus Reese and Lillie Mae Bly.
Virginia E.B. Anderson attended Bells Mill Elementary School and Norfolk County High School in Norfolk County which is now Chesapeake VA. She was in the band and graduated June 1952.
She joined Bethel A.M.E. Church an early age. She served as church Clerk, on the Usher board and worked with the children. She always assisted at the children's sleepovers at the church and at the VA Conference meetings as the church delegate on several occasions.
She graduated from Virginia State College in 1956. She taught night class in Chesapeake School System, worked in the Shipyard for a few years. Later she was employed with the Portsmouth School System. She taught 32years, her last 21 years were at Westhaven Elementry School.
She was predeceased by her husband James E. Anderson Jr,; son, Raynard Anderson and her three brothers: Howard L., Rufus R.Jr and George Bly.
She leaves to cherish her memory her sons: James(Randi), Mario(Kathy), Dexter and Derrick Anderson; three sisters: Irene, Marian and Jean; two brothers: Albert and Henry; nine grandchildren: Mark, Marlon, Dion, Kayla, Brianna, Kasey, Caprianna, Sophie and Jaden; five great grandchildren: Dionae, Tayjah, Dillon, Isiah and Mahaile and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
