Mrs. Marcolia F. Holmes, Affectionately known as "Marc", went home to rest on July 12, 2011 at the age of 88. she was born to the late Gracie Bell (Perry) Robertson and Morton Harrison Robertson on May 12, 1923 in the rural area of Wendell, North Carolina. She grew up in the same area with her parents and seven sisters and brothers. She was blessed to be the mother of one child, Willie T. Robertson. Marcolia was educated in the North Carolina Public School System and graduated from James Sheppard High School in Zebulon, NC. Marcolia relocated to Neeark, NJ in 1948, and found employment as a Cashier in a restaurant owned by her cousin Lawrence Robertson. She was later employed with Remco Manufactory for several years. Marcolia gave her life to christ at an early age. She was baptised and united with the Riley Hill Baptist Church, under the leadership of the late Rev. Dr. George Stokes. After moving to Newark, NJ she united with the Metropolitan Baptist Church, under the leadership of the late Rev. B. F. Johnson. She was a dedicated member of the Metropolitan Baptist Church for approximatley 60 years, until her health started to fail. Marc met the love of her life, Joshua A. Holmes around 1950, they married June 23,1951. After 40 years of marriage, her husband Joshua preceeded her in death. Marc was also preceeded in death by three sisters and two brothers. Marcolia leaves to cherish her memories: one son, Willie T.Robertson Sr., four grandchildren, Dorothy Denise Robertson, Willie T . Roberton Jr.., (wife Denise), Wayne Robertson, and Martin Robertson; one brother, deacon Walter Robertson (wife Edna); one siater, Gertrude Black; six great grandchildren; five great-great grand children; and a host of nieces , nephews, and other relatives and friends.
