He was born November 24, 1919, in Navasota, Texas, and graduated from the University of Texas in 1946 with a degree in Administrative Government following his military service as a Captain in the Army Air Force, serving in the Pacific Theater during WWII.
He retired in 1974 as a Division Chief for the US Civil Service Commission.
An avid golfer, he was a member of Eastern Hills Country Club for many years. After retiring, his passion became researching his family's genealogy.
Surviving family include his wife of 68 years, Catherine, sons Glynn and wife Carol, Gary and wife Patti, daughters Beth Carter and husband Mark, and Judy Taylor and husband Steve, 8 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren.
Services will be held Friday, July 16, at Sparkman Hillcrest Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m., with burial following at Restland. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association .
